The Hatter and the Hare

If the name doesn’t already tip you off, this cafe in Bayswater has a whimsical twist behind it. Its menu includes dishes ranging from the “Recurring Dream” (eggs on toast) for $15 to the “King’s Roll” (a breakfast burger) for $15.

Inspired by the imagination of Lewis Carroll, the food isn’t the only attraction. The whole place is full of plenty of floral scents and colours.

Dröm Bakery

Just next door to The Hatter and the Hare, Dröm Bakery is always busy with lines stretching out the doors and patrons wolfing down their yummy croissant and sweet selections on milk crates outside.

Their savoury takeaway selections include a garlic cheese twist for $11 and a Korean barbecue Suisse for $14, while their sweet options include a blackberry almond crescent for $14 or a cinnamon scroll for $8.

Amazing Coffee Van

Just looking for a bacon and egg sandwich and a coffee with no frills? The Amazing Coffee Van has been a favourite stop for Mount Evelyn locals for years. From 5am to noon on weekdays, pick up an egg and bacon sandwich and a medium coffee for $12.50.

Mano’s Doncaster

Tucked away in the Tunstall Square Shopping Centre in Doncaster East, you can find Mano’s, a cafe keeping it casual and quick.

Tuck into an omelette with toppings of your choice for $14. Or, if you only have time for a quick bite to go, select from their range of brekky burgers ranging from $8.90 for a simple egg and bacon roll to $12.50 for “The Ultimate” with egg, bacon, a beef patty, hash brown, cheese and Hollandaise sauce.

Crest Cafe

Driving through the suburban streets of Wantirna, Crest Cafe just looks like any run-of-the-mill milk bar. However, it can either be a great stop if you have kids, with a play zone out the back or a quiet place to sip a coffee and have a bite.

Polish off a bacon and egg roll for $14.50 or a simple toastie starting from $9.50.

Eugenes

Brekky tacos are also available for $22.

Tucked on the edge of Wantirna Mall, Eugenes is always hustling and bustling and is a great place to laugh along with the fun-loving baristas and servers to start off a weekend morning.

Chow down on eggs and toast for $14 or pick up a brekky burger for $13.

Matilda Mont Albert

A short walk from Mont Albert Reserve, Matilda is a quaint stop aiming to conjure up images of a Parisian coffee shop.

Their display cabinet has a range of small bites to hold you over until lunch, including a ham and cheese croissant for $14.50 and a bagel with cream cheese for $8.

On top of a cafe, this shop can also provide everything you may need for your next event, from cakes to catering and styling.

Quick brunch options include croissants from $4.50, toasties from $10 and croffles (a mix between a croissant and a waffle!) from $13.

1809 Cafe

Located at Willow Avenue Shopping Centre, 1809 offers up a wide range of cheaper options for hungry locals on the go, including an egg and bacon bun with Vietnamese slaw and homemade chili oil for $14.50 and toasties from $12.50.
