Dröm Bakery
If you happen to be driving down Scoresby Road at about 3am, you can park and take a look at the team of bakers at Dröm whipping up the range of pastries, breads and savoury treats for the day.
Autumn specials include an almond and pear tart and the cinnamon custard churro croclair – a mixture of a croissant and an éclair.
If you’re after a more savoury bite, check out their Garlic and Chives Cheese Twist, their twist on the classic pretzel or just a plain croissant.

Quarry Bakehouse

Since opening in July 2021 and led by pastry chef of 37 years Julian Thomas, this French-style bakery features sourdough, croissants, pies, toasties and burgers on its extensive menu, with indoor and outdoor dining options and take-away service available.

Tatin
With their name referencing the classic French dessert Tarte Tatin, this North Balwyn spot is known for its high-quality French-style pastries and artisan bread.
Or if you’re looking for a bite on the run, their menu also includes a bacon and egg roll or mortadella focaccia.

Madame Sourdough
The brainchild of local baker Annie Thi, Madame Sourdough came out of an Instagram following and Annie teaching herself the art of sourdough, after stepping away from her work as a chef to raise a family.
On top of her signature creation – the sourdough croissant – offerings also include seeded loaves, focaccias and fruit danishes.

The Honey Thief Bakery
Established in 2014, this family business specialises in organic sourdough bread as its flagship product.
It also offers dining-in options with indoor and outdoor seating.
On the menu, you can find toasties, pies, pastries and sandwiches – as well as coffee and tea.

Prodigal Bakery
Only opening its doors last October, Prodigal is a micro-bakery and the passion project of owner and baker Chris Ridgeway.
Focusing on small-batch pastries, croissants, and scrolls, this spot offers a mix of savoury and sweet options.
