Wendy Rule

A self-described “educator in Pagan spirituality”, Wendy Rule has carved out a unique corner for herself in Australia’s music scene over the past 30 years, releasing 13 albums.

Raised in Blackburn, she is now based in New Mexico, with her latest album “Meadowlark” exploring the roots she has put down in America. Heavy on the reverb, Rule creates spacious soundscapes in her pieces, supported by her earthy vocal tone.

Tenori - Moment by Moment

David Kidd, Craig Atkinson and Andrew Pryor make up Tenori, a trio of tenors juggling classic pieces from across the musical spectrum, including opera, musical theatre and jazz.

Cate Taylor and Amla Periarkan

Melbourne-based indie folk musician Cate Taylor is uniting her textured voice with the talents of multi-instrumentalist Amla Periarkan (flute, violin and vocals) - forming a new duo called Wattle Lane - for the Victorian Folk Music Club’s monthly concert.

With Taylor also playing guitar and mandolin, the pair create beautiful harmonies for their more tender tunes while also weaving in some faster jigs.

Guy Sebastian @ Westfield Knox

Guy Sebastian is celebrating the release of his new album “100 Times Around The Sun” with a free performance and album signing.

Velvet Archers

Upon hearing the upbeat rhythms of Velvet Archers, your mind is cast back to outfits like Mumford and Sons and The Lumineers.

Hailing from Melbourne’s east, the folk trio plays original music and well-known folk/country covers.

When: Saturday August 16, 9pm and Friday August 29, 8pm

The Cartridge Family

Sarah Carroll, Suzannah Espie, Rusty Rich, Greg 'Pa' Field, Nicky Del Rey Aunty Jack O'Dell are The Cartridge Family, named for their hillbilly sound.

The band will be playing tunes off their new album “Live in Person”.

When: Sunday August 17, 2pm to 5pm

Where: The Rocket Lounge, 9 The Greenway, Heathmont

Sister Paul

Sister Paul began its journey as a five-piece in Tokyo in 1992, but has now been stripped back to a bassist/vocalist and drummer/vocalist, who rip through the band’s uncomplicated post-punk catalogue.

Support acts on the night are Heterophobes and NAH.

When: Saturday August 23, 8.30pm to late

Tom Burlinson - “Still Swingin’”

Actor and singer Tom Burlinson is bringing his “Still Swingin’” show to The Round in Nunawading later this month.

He will be swinging through a montage of swing classics from Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra, through to the hits of modern crooners like Harry Connick Jr and Michael Bublé.
