June’s best live music events in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs
A jazz lounge in a cinema, an iconic rock pub and even an old court house are welcoming talent from far and wide this month.

From Aussie punk rock legends to a crass comedian singer-songwriter, here are some of the gigs to check out across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs in June.

Lido Jazz Room
Inspired by the Manhattan jazz bars that popped up in the 1980s, the intimate Lido Jazz Room hosts local and international performers.
The lineup in June includes Australian actress and singer Jane Clifton on Saturday June 13 and jazz pianist Bob Sedergreen on Saturday June 20.

The Wolfe Brothers
Brothers Tom and Nick Wolfe rose to prominence in the 2012 season of Australia’s Got Talent, finishing in second place.
The pair are on the road playing songs from their latest album Australian Made.

Silvie Paladino
Melbourne-born soprano Silvie Paladino (Young Talent Time, Les Misérables) has been singing since she was nine.

Phil Jamieson
The Grinspoon frontman is set to release his second solo album, 10Charlie, on August 14.
As part of a tour across the country, he will be playing songs off the new LP and classic Grinspoon tunes like Chemical Heart.

Kew Court House Live
Built in 1888, the Kew Court House venue has an 80-seat capacity, with June performances including Jude Perl on Saturday June 13 and Tamara Kuldin on Friday June 26.

X formed nearly 50 years ago in Australia, and founding singer Steve Lucas keeps the flame alive today.

Jenny Talia
Australian-born comedy musician Tammy-Jo Bryant is the daughter of Australian comedian Dennis Bryant, also known as “Kevin Bloody Wilson”.
Now based in the United States and coming off a career as a country music artist – performing under the stage name T. J. Dennis – she translates her father’s crude humour to a female perspective via the alter ego of “Jenny Talia”.

Ruthie Foster
With a career spanning back to 1997 and hailing from Texas, Grammy-nominated blues and folk singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster will be sharing stories from her musical journey while taking audiences through her hits and deeper cuts.

Kris Mizzi
Named one of the recipients of the Solo Artist of the Year award at the 2021 Australian Folk Music Awards, Kris Mizzi blends precise fingerpicking on his guitar with a gentle vocal style.

Steve Kilbey
One of the founding members of Australian rock band The Church – still touring and recording new material after first forming in 1980 – frontman and multi-instrumentalist Steve Kilbey has a significant solo catalogue of his own.

Rogue Traders
If you turned on the radio in 2005, Rogue Traders’ hits like “Voodoo Child”, “Way to Go!” and “Watching You” were inescapable.
The pop rock outfit, led by former Neighbours actress and TV personality Natalie Bassingthwaite, are celebrating the 21st anniversary of their breakout album Here Come the Drums alongside tracks off their upcoming album.

False Morels
Indie rock outfit False Morels will be playing their first-ever show at Sooki Lounge later this month, with experimental synth-funk-punk project Electric Self as the support act.

The Choirboys
First founded in 1978, pub rock group The Choirboys still include founding frontman Mark Gable and bassist Ian Hulme, with lead guitarist Brett Williams joining the band in 1987.
The band will be taking fans all the way back to the beginning for a journey through some of Australian rock's best legends, tales and myths.
