Rollerskates, go-karts and mini golf: The best kids’ attractions and events across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs in June
From dressing up as a rice dumpling to fishing for rainbow trout, there is plenty to keep young eastern Melburnians entertained in June.

With cold weather truly here to stay for the next couple of months, it can be difficult to find the motivation to get outside and get active. But there’s always something new to check out. Here is our list of some of the best events and activities in June.
Dragon Box Festival
Hong Kong is an exciting city, and this weekend you can have a taste in Box Hill, complete with rice dumping cosplay.
Food, games, live performances and market stalls will be in Box Hill Town Hall throughout the day.
When: Sunday June 1, 11am to 8pm.
Where: Box Hill Town Hall, 1022 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill.
Cost: Free.
Caribbean Rollerama
One of the eastern suburbs’ longest-running rollerskating rinks, Caribbean Rollerama is open for casual sessions, lessons or parties.
With a DJ booth, disco ball, arcade games, kiosk and party room.
When: Open every day of the week at various times.
Where: 1298 Ferntree Gully Rd, Scoresby.
Cost: Two-hour sessions for $15, skate/blade hire for $4.
Time Is Key Escape Rooms
At Time Is Key in Ringwood players can choose between two rooms, with another experience coming soon, where groups of two to six solve puzzles and find their way out.
When: Open 2.15pm to 9.15pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, open 10.15am to 9.15pm Fridays to Sundays, closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Where: 24A/107-113 Heatherdale Road, Ringwood
Age restriction: 12 years and above (children under 16 must have a parent/guardian on premises for the duration of the experience).
Cost: Group bookings of two for $120 up to $270 for groups of six.
Australian Rainbow Trout Farm
Whether you’re looking to teach your children how to fish in a calm environment or just enjoy the peace and quiet of waiting for a bite, the Australian Rainbow Trout Farm has been a favourite for a number of years.
You can even cook the fish you catch on the barbecues on site.
When: Open 10am to 4pm every day.
Where: 26 Mulhalls Road, Macclesfield
Cost: $14 adults, $12 children, children under three free.
Adventure Golf - Maroondah Golf Park
Thirty-six holes across two full mini golf courses, and a driving range for those wanting to hit the ball a little further.
When: Open 9am to 10pm daily
Where: 363 Maroondah Highway, Chirnside Park
Cost: One course, four and under - $6; five to 16 - $13; adult - $18; family - $52.
Ngurrak-al Marram-u/Body of the Mountain
Local artists have used painting, screendance, sound installation, textiles, sculpture, digital and cyanotype photography to express what it means to “listen to Country” in the Dandenong Ranges, for the “Body of the Mountain” exhibition.
Local artist Rebecca Murray will lead a workshop for kids aged eight and above to create a sun-printed image from 11am to 12.30pm on Saturday June 7. Participants can then take their artworks home.
When: Running until Sunday July 13.
Where: Burrinja Cultural Centre, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey.
Cost: Exhibition - free; workshop - $10
Karting Madness
Karting Madness in Bayswater has a 600-metre-long track and three different types of karts to suit kids four and above.
The centre also includes a viewing area, arcade room, racing simulators, golf simulator, licensed cafe and function room for parties.
When: Open 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday; open 9am to 8pm Sundays.
Where: 9a/841 Mountain Hwy, Bayswater
Cost: $39 for children, $49 for adults, plus $10 for a membership.
