Great Spring Clean Up at Brandon Park Reserve
As part of Great Spring Clean Up events across the country, Monash Rotaract are rolling up their sleeves and donning some gloves to tidy up Brandon Park Reserve.
When: Saturday September 6 from 11am to 1pm
Where: Brandon Park Reserve, 645 Ferntree Gully Road, Glen Waverley
Bloom & Graze
Cherry Hill Orchards in Coldstream is opening its gates across two weekends to allow locals from across the Yarra Valley and beyond to wander through the budding cherry blossom trees.
When: September 6 and 7 and September 13 and 14
Where: 739 Maroondah Hwy, Coldstream
Cost: $15 adults, all kids free

On top of walking through the grounds of the orchard, you can also take a gander at the offerings from local producers, winemakers, market stalls, food vendors and entertainment.
Birrarung Riverfest 2025
Presented by the Yarra Riverkeeper Association, the Birrarung Riverfest features a range of hands-on and educational sessions and programs over four weeks in September.
Local events include river safety sessions at Warrandyte River Reserve from 10am on Saturday September 13 and Saturday September 20, a habitat planting session for the Helmeted Honeyeater and Leadbeater Possum in Yellingbo from 10am on Sunday September 21 and planting sessions at Gardiners Creek Reserve and Andersons Creek Reserve from 10am on Sunday September 7.
When: Saturday September 6 to Sunday September 28

“Rock Around the Mall”
One of the shop owners at Boronia Mall recently reached out to let me know about an upcoming car show and “entertainment extravaganza” coming up in September.
The free event will include classic and custom cars on display, live music, dance performances, market stalls, hairspray and face painting, roving entertainers and show bags.
When: Saturday September 13, 11am to 3pm
Where: Boronia Mall, 50 Dorset Square, Boronia

The retro vehicles on display will include a 1967 MkIII BSA Spitfire motorcycle.
Comics & Records Fair
Lovers of obscure thrash metal vinyl are encouraged to come along to the Comics & Records Fair at Big Antler later this month.
Consisting of mostly European pressings, there will also be about 300 singles, 200 cassettes and 200 CDs up for grabs across death metal, as well as 30 crates of rock, pop and funk releases and about 2000 comics from the 60s to the 80s.
When: Saturday September 13, 10am to 4pm

Jimeoin - Pandemonium
Despite being born in England and growing up in Northern Ireland, we’ve well and truly claimed Jimeoin as one of our own since he moved to Australia at the age of 22.
When: Saturday September 20 from 7.30pm to 9.20pm
Where: George Wood Performing Arts Centre, 84-90 Kalinda Road, Ringwood

Blossom Festival
A sister event to the “Bloom & Graze” extravaganza, Cherry Hill Orchards is opening up its Wandin East orchard as part of their annual Blossom Festival.
When: Wednesday September 24 to Sunday October 5
Where: 474 Queens Road, Wandin East
Cost: $15 for adults, $10 for children aged between four and 13

Savour some on-site tastings of the locally grown cherries or their cherry juice or grab a bite or a quick drink from local producers, vendors and a variety of stallholders.
Mooroolbark Community Garden Market
Since September 2023, a group of Mooroolbark locals have been cultivating a space for residents of all ages to come together, plant, and nurture a sustainable garden.
When: Sunday September 28 from 9am to 1pm
Where: 8 Station Street, Mooroolbark

Plenty of seedlings and plants are available or just pop down to have a look at the garden and the offerings from local stallholders and grab a sausage for $3.
