Watch: Yarra Ranges Council starts emergency works on Lilydale's White Dog Hotel
The council is hoping to hand over works to the owner soon.

The doors of Lilydale’s White Dog Hotel, otherwise known as the Lilydale Hotel or Duke’s Saloon, the hotel’s doors have now been closed for more than 20 years.
A Yarra Ranges Council spokesperson told the Eastern Melburnian council staff met with the owner on Monday August 11, to discuss measures to make the facade safe for locals and pedestrians.
“The owner has since expressed a willingness to undertake the necessary works, and council is now working closely with them to clarify the scope and ensure the site is made safe,” the spokesperson said.
“At this stage, there is no confirmed timeframe for completion, but council remains committed to supporting the owner through this process and ensuring public safety remains the top priority.”
