Word on the Street: Weighing up our votes on donations from gambling companies
We've been speaking with people across Melbourne's eastern suburbs about what issues will be swaying their vote ahead of this year's federal election.

We’ve been hitting the pavement recently as part of our ongoing work to hear what locals think about the issues impacting them most and what political parties, MPs and candidates should be doing about them.
Our contributor Joey Robertson visited Oakleigh recently to talk with locals, with our newest interview now live with two men in Oakleigh.
One said he believes political parties should not accept money from any companies, except being funded by their voter base.
The other said political parties should be able to accept donations from any source they wish, but our votes should determine if we accept the practice.
“We’re voting people in that will take money from gambling, then I think that reflects more of us than them,” he said.
